Hollywoodbets is owned by Owen Heffer and his wife, Lesley. Owen Heffer is the primary driving force behind the company. His journey began in the 1980s when he moved to South Africa and started selling printed horse racing tips near the Greyville Racecourse. This venture eventually led to the founding of Winning Form in 1986, a company that focused on distributing horse racing cards. This business provided Owen with the experience needed to establish Hollywoodbets, which started in 2000 with its first branch in Durban and expanded online in 2006.Â
Suren Rampersadh, who partnered with Owen in the late 1990s, is currently the CEO of Hollywoodbets. He has been with the company since its early days and was recognized as the best CEO of 2018 at the Gambling Industry Awards.
Hollywoodbets has grown significantly and now operates more than 80 branches across six provinces in South Africa, offering a wide range of betting options, including USSD and phone betting. The company is also known for its extensive community involvement and sponsorships, including partnerships with Netball South Africa, Brentford Football Club, and various horse racing events
